Catching Up With Molina, Battle of the Bands 2016
This week's highlighted Battle of the Bands competitor is none other than 2016's own Molina, Molina describes themselves as a "Binghamton NY based band derived from local artists who are making an impact in the music scene."
Members include Jon Molina on lead vocals and guitar, Nick Politi on drums and vocals, Eric Camp on bass and vocals and Jessica Politi on synth and vocals.
So what have they been up to? Quite a bit!
The Drive: What have you guys been up to since you competed in Battle of the Bands?
Molina: Since the 2016 100.5 Battle of the bands competition we have been keeping busy, not only writing new material, but playing all around Upstate Ny. We had the opportunity to play the MOVE Music Festival in Albany with many great names such as headliner Sawyer Fredricks (who had won the 2015 series of “The Voice”) , July Talk, and the Alchemystics just to name a few. We also have had the opportunity to open for “The Blind Spots” hot off their tour across country when they made a surprise visit to “Spotlight” on Court Street in Binghamton. We have also began recording again with Jeff DaBella at Mansion Audio Studio. We have some great new things planned for the future and are excited to share with everyone.
The Drive: What was your Battle of the Bands experience like?
Molina: Our experience with 100.5 Battle of the Bands was nothing short of amazing! Granted, we did not make it to the finals, but being able to communicate with so many great local acts made it one of the greatest experiences. It was great to see a radio station involve itself with local ORIGINAL music! Knowing that there is a great group of people locally who care about local artists makes the whole experience that much better!
The Drive: Any advice for new, original bands just starting out?
Molina: Our advice for any new band is to set goals. Stay positive and never stop moving forward. Once you reach your goal set another goal. We are constantly setting goals for ourselves any thing from practicing more to playing more gigs! To reach your goals you also need to stay positive, because negativity can spread like wild fire and in most cases can be counter productive. When your are productive and set your goals, you with find yourself moving forward.
The Drive: Where can people find your music?
